US box software still can’t take a UK Direct Debit

CrossFit and functional-training software is overwhelmingly American, and it shows in the one place a UK gym feels every month: how the money arrives. Wodify’s own help centre states that in the UK, Wodify Payments doesn’t support bank account or Direct Debit payments — you can only take card.

Why studios and gyms switch from Wodify & US box software

01

Direct Debit is how UK memberships work

Cards expire, get replaced and get declined. A Bacs mandate doesn’t. Building a UK membership book on cards means a churn problem you have to manually chase every month.

02

Built here, for here

Sterling, UK VAT, UK payment rails, UK support hours. Not a US product with a currency dropdown.

03

Support in your timezone

A problem at 7am on a Monday is a problem during your busiest hour, not during somebody else’s night shift.

04

The booking side, done properly

Capacity, waitlists that auto-fill, class packs, credits and memberships — the parts that decide whether your 6am fills.

05

Keep your tracking app

If your members love their whiteboard app, keep it. We’d rather be the system that runs the business than force you to give up something your community actually uses.

Wodify and PushPress do things we don’t. Whiteboard and benchmark tracking, leaderboards, the workout side of a box — that culture is real and we’re not going to claim we replace it. Plenty of UK boxes run a tracking app alongside their booking software deliberately, and that’s a sensible setup.

Switching from Wodify & US box software — your questions

Does Wodify really not do UK Direct Debit?+

That is what Wodify’s own help centre says: in the UK, Wodify Payments doesn’t support bank account or Direct Debit payments, so you can only process card payments. It notes this depends on Stripe releasing the option. Check it yourself before you take our word for it — the link is in the sources below.

What about PushPress or Zen Planner?+

We haven’t found documented UK Bacs Direct Debit support for either, but absence of documentation isn’t proof, so we’re not going to state it as fact. Ask them directly, in writing, before you commit — it’s a fair question and the answer should take them a minute.

Do you do whiteboard and benchmark tracking?+

No. That is a real gap for a box and we’d rather say it plainly than bury it. Most UK boxes we speak to run a dedicated tracking app alongside their booking platform anyway; keep yours and let us run the memberships, timetable and money.

Can you move us mid-season without losing memberships?+

Yes. Members, memberships, packs and remaining credits move with you. If you’re collecting by card today, this is also the moment to move members onto Direct Debit — which usually improves collection rates rather than hurting them.
