How to choose studio booking software: a practical checklist
Studio software demos are full of features you’ll never use. Here’s a short checklist that cuts through it and focuses on what actually affects your day and your members.
Is it built for classes?
Class packs, per-class-type credits, waitlists and check-in should feel native, not bolted on. Software built for gyms or spas can be bent into a class studio, but you’ll feel the friction every day.
Is it fast and genuinely easy?
Your front desk and instructors use it constantly. If it takes training sessions to get going, that’s a cost every time you hire. Ask to try the real thing, not just watch a scripted demo.
What’s included vs bolted on?
A low headline number means little if the features you need are all paid add-ons. Ask what a real, working setup for your studio actually includes.
Who owns your members and data?
Can you export your member list any time? Does the platform run a marketplace that markets your clients to rival studios? Your relationships are your business — keep them yours.
How do you get support?
When something breaks mid-class, do you get a person or a ticket queue? Hands-on onboarding and a real human to call is worth more than a glossy help centre.
The one-line test
Book a live demo on your own timetable and ask: "could my team run tomorrow’s classes on this without me?" If the answer is an easy yes, you’ve found the right tool.
